Bollywood bombshell Bipasha Basu may be playing the deglamourised role of a housewife in her first Bengali movie but the actress says she is happy with the 'sexy' tag as a girl-next-door look never interested her.

"I love being sexy and I would be happy if people call me sexy even when I turn 100. I would love to be called a sexy grandmother.

The tag has never bothered me," Bipasha, who has been named one of the sexiest celebrities of Asia, said in an interview.

"If a woman says she does not want to be called attractive then she is foolish. I like being exclusive, the girl-next-door image has never interested me.

It is too boring," the actress, who started her Bollywood career with bold characters in "Jism" and "Raaz", says.

Katrina has returned from Italy looking noticeably different...

Katrina Kaif has come back from her recent holiday in Italy and there's something different about her. The actress who has been often voted as the sexiest actress in B-Town, returned with fuller lips than she left with.

Says a source, "Katrina has always wanted shapelier lips. She recently returned from a long holiday - almost three weeks.

A source close to Katrina adds, "She can't afford to take any medication right now as she's on a very strong medication for her skin.

It is called Roaccutane and she's under treatment for it under Dr Neena , a cosmetologist from Mumbai, for the last six months and will be under medication for six months more.

The medicine is so strong that Katrina can't take any other medicine during this time and in fact, because Roaccutane is so harsh it gives rise to swollen, dry and chapped lips - which gives the impression as if she has done something to her lips."

What's Roaccutane? Roaccutane is a vitamin A derivative (13-cis-retinoic acid) which is administered orally in pill form, normally for 15-20 weeks (3.5-4.5 months). It was originally prescribed for people with severe acne that did not respond to other treatments, but has gained in popularity in the past 25 years.

This practice is controversial because Accutane is a serious medication and causes side effects which can be as devastating as they are widespread. Apart from severe allergy and other side effects Roaccutane can also have inflammation of the lips or cheilitis as another side effect.

Shahrukh doesn't miss Salman

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is upset over news that she is set to tie the knot with London-based businessman Raj Kundra by the year end.

She clarifies that she isn't getting married this year. "I've said before, I will make an official announcement the day my parents decide on my marriage date and I promise the press will have at least a month to celebrate the announcement.

So to set the record straight, no I'm not getting married this year. Yes, I am looking at next year, but date not decided," Shilpa posted on.

A British newspaper reported Thursday that the actress would be getting married between September and December in Britain after her father, Surendra Shetty, wrote so in an application to an Indian court.

But Shilpa has slammed the news. "I am sick and tired of people calling me to clarify after they've put it as breaking news on some channels and wasted reams of paper on concocted news articles," she said. Shilpa is also upset over the leakage of the details her father gave to the court to acquire his passport.

"My poor dad is already having a tough time every time he has to travel abroad and has to apply for his passport, and as alway it's harrowing enough for him to go back and forth every time for his passport...," she said.

Surendra Shetty's passport was reportedly confiscated after he was charged with threatening a business associate he claimed owed money to his daughter. Since then, he and his wife Sunanda have only been able to travel overseas with the court's permission, which is why he applied for the passport on the alleged pretext of Shilpa's wedding. "My dad's 67 and ageing, please let the poor man live in peace and dignity, it's annoying. I request the press to report responsibly and not make any baseless assumptions," stated Shipa.

Bipasha's 'Hatoda' secret revealed..

The gorgeous Bipasha Basu, in her earlier days in Mumbai, used to keep a hatoda (hammer) in her purse to protect herself from all danger.

She shares her story for the first time on Indian television with host Farah Khan of STAR Plus' new chat show Tere Mere Beach Mein.

On Farah quizzing her if she ever carried a weapon for defence, Bipasha says, "I used to carry a huge bag. In it was a pillow and a hammer.

Shilpa Shetty to get married very soon

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who became famous worldwide and specially UK after her win on the reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, is now all set to marry businessman Raj Kundra this autumn, which her father has revealed to the news media in an application to an Indian court.

Shilpa Shetty and her London-based Indian beau formed a successful business partnership following her appearance on the reality television show. Their business empire includes a $16.2 million (10 million pounds) stake in the Rajasthan Royals Twenty20 cricket team and a recently acquired food company. Thats a big business plan indeed.

According to Bollywood actress Shilpa’s father Surendra Shetty, the couple’s wedding plans in an application for his passport to be returned to allow him to attend the event. Shilpa’s father Surendra Shetty is accused of sending gangsters to collect a debt from sari manufacturer Pankaj Agarwal after his firm Praful Sarees failed to pay Shilpa for a modelling assignment when her Bollywood career was at a low point. Since then, Surendra Shetty and his wife Sunanda have only been able to travel overseas with the court’s permission.

In his application, Surendra Shetty informed the court the wedding would take place between September and the end of December in Britain.

SRK has a lot on his plate

Shah Rukh Khan has a lot on his plate. Apart from My Name Is Khan, which is set to release in a few months, shooting for his films Happy New Year and Don 2 is about to start. Also, King Khan has two home productions to look forward to.

The first one will be directed by Roshan Abbas and will star Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shraddha while The other is based on the bestselling novel Zoya Factor and will be directed by Shirish Kunder.

"Though Roshan's script has been approved by SRK and pre-production work on the film is in full swing, Shirish's script still needs work," says a birdie.

Salman Khan dosent like to see Katrina Kaif in short clothes

Salman is not watching Katrina's films from a long time, and there's a reason behind it. Salman doesn't like Katrina wearing sexy and small clothes in the films. Perhaps he doesn't even like to see other male stars romancing her onscreen.

Salman says, "Once I saw she was wearing a really small skirt in a movie and I didn't like it. It's better to stay away from those films. To drive her point home, Ash stressed that she’s never been dropped by any brand she’s endorsed so far. It’s she who has chosen to dissociate herself from certain brands for one reason or another.

So even as we see Katrina emerging as the new endorsement queen from Bollywood, let’s not forget Ash is not behind. Her endorsement of an international cosmetic brand has been taking her to Cannes Film Festival annually since last many years.

Katrina still has to clinch something of that proportion.

Ajay Devgans unique proposal to Bipasha Basu

After the underwater proposal made by Akshay Kumar to Kareena Kapoor in ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, Ajay Devgan is all set to propose Bipasha Basu from mid-air in director Rohit Shetty’s upcoming comedy ‘All The Best’. The scene has Ajay seated in a sports car dangling 8 feet above the ground and giving out a rose to Bipasha standing on the road.

The scene being risky and difficult took two days planning and an entire day for shoot. The car, being suspended from mid air and Ajay’s need to balance his weight, there was extra precaution needed as Bipasha was standing below the car and nothing could go wrong. To add to it, it had to look completely romantic. The scene has been successfully shot.

Thankfully, everything went fine and the scene was shot during the course of a day. Besides Ajay and Bipasha, ‘All The Best’ also features Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan and Mugdha Godse. The film is set for Diwali release.

“For me it was Pa blogging because he was concerned and away from home at that time. But for others, it was like a confirmation of sorts that Amitabh Bachchan says Ash has the swine flu!”

Apart from shooting for Raavan, Endhiran, Guzaarish and Action Replay, Ash also has other professional commitments to honour which takes up a lot of her time. But hey, she’s not complaining. After all, she is the face of some of the most popular brands across the world. “I’ve always been very selective about the brands I endorse. There’s no rat race. Every endorsement has a story behind it. The bottomline is, I don’t like endorsing brands which are anywhere and everywhere,” explains Ash.

And what about rumours of a jewellery brand dropping her for Katrina Kaif? “I would like to say this loud and clear; I chose not to renew my contract with the jewellery brand,” affirms the actor setting the record straight. “I had a contract with another brand under which that particular jewellers came. Once they parted ways, I decided not to endorse them anymore,” she goes on to explain.

Taking the opportunity to put to rest the talk about her being dropped by other brands due to her age, Ash said, “No one every dropped me. I chose not to renew certain contracts. Like the one with the cola brand. Post marriage I decided not to endorse them anymore as Pa and Abhishek were endorsing the rival cola brand. I didn’t want any confusion in the consumer’s mind,” she quipped .

With film and endorsement offers pouring in, Ash is indeed a busy woman just like she was a few years ago. Unlike others, marriage doesn’t seem to have slowed her down. “Earlier, it was tough for a heroine to get work after marriage. Their so-called brand value would depreciate. That didn’t happen with me, as I've always aspired to push the envelope,” she explains.

But she does not take the credit for this alone. “I have to thank the professionals I’ve worked with. They were not regressive and changed with times,” she says. And unlike other contemporaries, Ash always seems pretty secure and confident of her career. “And why not?” she asks going on to add that, “Throughout my career I’ve never said things like, ‘I’m not ready for marriage now’, or ‘marriage will happen only after five or six years’. When I was ready for marriage, everybody knew. I’ve never given escapist quotes.”

But now that she is married into the first family of Bollywood, doesn’t she want to take it slow? “I have a secret pride, you know. I’ve always wanted to work after marriage and I couldn’t see why that should change after I tied the knot,” says Ash, while adding immediately, “Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not a hardcore feminist. I’m a humanist.”

The down-to-earth superstar rewinds, “I’ve had a long and wonderful journey. My photographer friends and others have pointed out that I have improved over the years.” But that did not come easy. “Earlier when a girl signed a film opposite a certain hero, it made big news. But I was not satisfied with just that, I wanted more.

There were times when I signed a film and it turned out to be something else. I then brought it something different and new to the industry that protected the rights of the heroine like the MOUs and other contractual changes.” Ask her if any of it was tough and she says, “Well I’ve constantly learnt and improved as an actor. My efforts have definitely made things a lot easier for my ilk.”

Sonam Kapoor Thrilled to be New Bollywood

22-year-old Sonam Kapoor is thrilled that her new movie Aisha, based on Jane Austen's Emma has such a young cast. "I thought I was one of the youngest girls in Bollywood," says Sonam.

"But when I started work on Aisha I realized almost everyone on the set is my age or even younger than I am," she explains. The cast also includes Abhay Deol.

After Aisha, Sonam moves on to a romantic comedy, I Hate Luv Stories with Imran Khan. "Both films are very different from each other," Sonam confirms.

I Hate Luv Stories is said to be a new type of love story which will surprise the audience with some unexpected twists and turns.

Meanwhile, Sonam is making an impact in the product endorsement sphere, advertising - amongst other things - solitaire diamonds.

Aishwarya Rai does not seem to be in her right frame of mind these days. Is it her illness which is taking a toll on her?

Recently in a press conference, Ash was not her composed self and seemed irritated with most of the queries.

The actress felt that the SRK detention drama was blown out of proportion. She felt it was his "personal" issue.

"Some people decided to give their verdict, while others tried to be judgemental. Why this issue is dragging on and is being made a part of extensive discussion is beyond me."

Aishwarya was also upset at the insinuation over her having contracted swine flu. The lady said:

Everybody assumed I already had swine flu. Whoever started these rumours caused my phone to crash. Aishwarya was also not excited about the questions related to the delay in Raavan's shooting.

"It's a filmmaking process. Roz kuch hota hi rahta hai. However, one episode with elephant was really unfortunate. But it's really ridiculous to say that if a film director has a heart-attack, it means the film is jinxed." Oh Aishwarya! Amrita's and Priyanka designer dosti

Tinseltown generally does not have many stories of girl bonding as many of them are engaged in internal career related rivalries or sometimes even boyfriend related as their beaus suddenly get extra friendly with their competition.

But looks like Priyanka Chopra and Amrita Rao are becoming very close friends with the duo spending some quality time with one another whenever they bump into each other and are also splurging a lot of cash to buy each other expensive gifts.Now there's a good twist to the tale too.

Asterios Polyp

On my friend Dave Cawley's recommendation, I recently read Asterios Polyp, the first solo graphic novel by David Mazzucchelli (who previously illustrated a number of graphic novels, including his outstanding adaptation of Paul Auster's City of Glass and Frank Miller's Batman: Year One), and I'm glad I did. With the exception of his extremist negative views on Godzilla vs. Hedorah (a cinematic revelation, imho) and cilantro (a taste sensation, imho), Dave is always spot on with his recommendations - especially when it comes to comics and manga - and this was no exception.

In his New York magazine review "Comics Relief," Dan Kios observes that Mazzucchelli's masterpiece about a "paper tiger" architect (none of his designs have ever been built) of renown's fall from grace, ignominious rebirth and eventual redemption was 10 years in the making - and that the effort shows in the end result: "What's best about Asterios Polyp is that it succeeds so wildly at being what it is: a great graphic novel. Mazzucchelli doesn't seem worried about competing with "real" literature. Nor does the book read, as so many contemporary graphic novels do, like a treatment for a future movie deal. Mazzucchelli is still a cartoonist's cartoonist, and Asterios Polyp - maybe even more than its predecessor [City of Glass] - is a cartoonist's masterpiece."

By the way, Asterios Polyp is the name of the Greek-American architect and not a medical disorder. Amidst the narrative arc Mazzucchelli gets in his wry observations of East Coast elistists and academe, Midwest working class proles, New Age mysticism, as well as the pretentions of the art and music communities. And, thanks to Asterios' wife Hana being Japanese, we also get a nice riff on Eastern cultural values (not to mention May-December romances and marriages).

But what I liked best about Mazzucchelli's graphic novel was its philosophical observations, like this rumination on time and memory that (if my memory serves me well) will stick with me through time.

Hrithik’s New Look for Bhansali’s Guzaarish

Bollywood Actor Hrithik Roshan appeared recently at an event in a completely different avatar. The actor has grown long hair and beard for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish. He plays a paraplegic in the movie and acquires to have this particular look.

A source reveals, “Hrithik underwent training and met various paraplegic patients to get into the skin of his character. The actor is on the wheelchair for a major portion of the movie. He used to practice around in his house on the wheel chair and also had read and gone through booklets and guides which gave him information about the physical behavior of such patients.”

Hrithik Roshan has grown his hair really long and also has his beard grown. While making public appearances he normally gels up his facial fuzz but has the long hair look.

According to an industry source, both Hrithik and Sanjay wanted to have a natural look and one will see Hrithik with this look till the shooting is on for the movie and infact during its promotional events.

Abhi-Ash to team up for the seventh time!

Abhishek Bachchan admits he is going to team up with wife Aishwarya Rai for Rajiv Menon's next project - a remake of the 1973 evergreen hit film Abhimaan. But Abhishek clarifies that it wouldn't be an exact copy of the film his parents starred in.

"Yes, Rajiv is a very dear friend. He directed Aishwarya earlier in the Tamil film Kandukondain Kandukondain. He approached us with a subject that isn't exactly a remake of Abhimaan. But it's very similar.

We've both approved and attached ourselves to the subject," Abhishek told IANS. This will be his seventh film with Aishwarya.

After Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke (2000), Kuch Naa Kaho (2003), Umrao Jaan (2006), Guru (2007), Dhoom 2 (2007) and Sarkar Raj (2008) and Mani Ratnam's next, Ravan.

For the moment, Abhishek's kitty is full. "I'm also doing Rohan Sippy's next. We'll try to do something as different as Bluffmaster I'm also doing Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Paanch Kaurav with pa (Amitabh Bachchan)," he said.

He is also going to team up with Abhinay Deo who has just finished Imran Khan-starrer Delhi Belly. "Yes, I'm doing Abhinay Deo's film. I've always been impressed by his ads. And when I heard he was making feature films, I was keen to work with him," said Abhishek.

In the last two years, he has worked with directors as diverse as Ram Gopal Varma, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Mani Ratnam and says it has been a time of great learning experiences. "Oh it was huge. My first release in 2008 was Sarkar Raj. I went on to Drona. I ended last year with Dostana. Then came Delhi 6. I had a wonderful time making all of them.

"I'm happy with the work I've done regardless of whether the film has been successful or not. The important thing is to enjoy the journey of making the film. Because that's all you finally take home. I look back with fond memories," he said.

Katrina Kaif is 'golden Girl' of Bollywood
