First Teaser: As sultry as it gets - Vidya in 'The Dirty Picture'
The actress stands undaunted even as three men - Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi - get too close for comfort in the poster, which was released on social networking sites Friday.
"The poster and the logo of the film has a very 1980s feel to it because the movie is set in that period.
We will be launching the first trailer of 'The Dirty Picture' in Mumbai August 30," Girish Johar, head of acquisition and distribution, Balaji Motion Pictures, told over the phone from Mumbai.
The film is set to release Dec 2, the birth anniversary of Silk Smitha, who became a symbol of sensuality after featuring in bold and semi-nude roles. Later, financial crises and personal problems took a toll on her life.
It is this moving story that has been captured in this latest offering by Ekta Kapoor.
In tune with the period that the movie is set in, the Balaji unit has chosen to launch the first trailer at Galaxy, a single screen theatre in Mumbai.
"It is because the movie has the 1980s charm of Indian cinema, we chose not to go to any five star hotel or a multiplex to launch the first teaser. The theatre will be set up in a way that reminds people of good old times," said Johar.

Vidya Balan married?
Vidya Balan fans got a huge jolt on Tuesday, all thanks to social networking sites. The actress was conveniently married off to UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapoor.
A strong buzz went around within the web world about how the South Indian beauty had already tied the knot with Kapoor a week ago.
Not just that, gossipmongers even speculated that the couple was scheduled to leave for their honeymoon as soon as Vidya completed her shoot for The Dirty Picture in Hyderabad.
However, we have good news. The actress is very much a bachelorette and has no plans of getting hitched anytime soon. When contacted, all she said was: "It is so untrue."
Interestingly, all this happened on a day that was very special for both.
It was Kapoor's birthday on August 2 and though that was good news enough, their fans who spread the news were clearly too excited.
All we can confirm is that the two took a trip out of the country as Siddharth does on every birthday, and spent the day together.
Rumours about Vidya and Kapoor dating each other have been doing the rounds since No One Killed Jessica.
Speculations only increased when the two were spotted holidaying in Goa and then in Khandala.
Apparently, Vidya has also been accompanying Kapoor on a few family functions, pretty much putting an official stamp on them as a couple.

Vidya Balan in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani: Role of a pregnant woman
While the smokers on the set might resent her call for the ban, the director is maha pleased with her dedication. Sujoy says, "She's really into the character. So much so that after a while she started freaking us out.
She started behaving like an expectant mother and wouldn't let anyone smoke in front of her.. and we were like.. huh? Pregnant!? Who? So I think for Balan once she is mentally there, physical bits are baaye haath ka khel."
The director might want to lookout for more clues of obsessing with the character. It might get really scary if she started eating for two, or started feeling morning sickness.

Vidya Balan: Crusader for equity to sexy siren
While Vidya Balan did go the de-glam way for her previous movie Ishqiya, it’s probably unfair to compare her looks in the former film and No One Killed Jessica. But one thing is for sure, Vidya manages to carry off a range of looks and emotions with the ease of a pro.
In No One Killed Jessica, inspired from the Jessica Lall murder case, Vidya’s role is based on Jessica’s sister, Sabrina Lall, who fought for her sister’s case. "There’s a real, vulnerable, raw quality to Sabrina," says Vidya, "She likes to get lost in the crowd. She’s very young when this incident happens in her life and it shows." Vidya adds that she took special care to look the character by wearing loose, ill-fitting shirts and even adding a slight hunch to depict the body-conscious young Sabrina.
Surprisingly, Vidya met the real Sabrina only after the filming of the movie. So why did it take her so long to meet Sabrina? Vidya winces, "I thought it would be really insensitive to just ask Sabrina what it felt or what she went through. Sabrina did meet (director) Raj Kumar and discussed a few things with him. Later, Raj Kumar and I sat down and created the character of Jessica. So any resemblance between reel and real life Sabrina is just coincidence."
About her earliest memories of the Jessica Lall case, Vidya recollects, "I was in college when I heard about the case. There were signature campaigns to show our support and even I signed up for them. When the verdict did come out finally (a few years ago), it wasn’t relief that I felt, but I was just happy that justice had been served. It was the way the case brought all of us – the media and the public – together that gave me hope."
You won’t be seeing Vidya in her coy avatar too soon. Next on her radar is Dirty Picture (working title), a film inspired by the life of south India’s sexy siren, Silk Smitha. Vidya Balan’s character is inspired by the late sex bomb who committed suicide. And she has also done a special dance number for Urumi, a Malayalam film directed by Santosh Sivan, and co-starring Genelia D’Souza.
"I was actually surprised when Sivan came to me with this song. I had just recovered from a shoulder injury and was getting back to exercising. That’s when he told me that he didn’t want me to lose weight! He said that they don’t like skinny girls in Malayalam films. And to top it, I was dancing in front of Prabhu Devaa. I was so conscious that I asked him to close his eyes because I didn’t want him to see me dance! "Silk Smitha or Sabrina Lal, Vidya sure is giving us a hell lot to look forward to!

Vidya Balan parades her Baby Bump in newfangled picture kahaani
Director Sujoy Ghosh, is full of praises for the gifted actress for carrying off the role so effortlessly. He said that he had written the script with Vidya in mind and none other than Vidya could have portrayed the character so well. “It's the story of a woman who's six months pregnant and her journey. I had written the script keeping Vidya in mind. I wouldn't have made the film without her. For me she's a perfectionist who has beautifully brought the character alive,” said the director.
Vidya Balan has another interesting film coming up, ‘No one Killed Jessica’, based on the real life killing of Jessica Lal, where she plays a lawyer and co-stars with Rani Mukerji. The beautiful actress made her debut in Bollywood with the film ‘Parineeta’ by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. She shot into limelight with her maiden performance and made everyone take note of her. There has been no looking back ever since.
Vidya Balan: I reveled in trying an agamic individual
The actress says, “I really enjoyed playing an asexual person. I have worn the most uninteresting clothes and my make-up was done in minimum time. I normally take more time to dress up in my personal life than the time I took to get ready to play this character. It was a joy ride as my hairdresser would just tie my hair in a ponytail, the make-up guy would do the base… and I would be ready. In a way, the look helped me because as soon as I put on those over sized, shapeless clothes, I felt that it was not me; it took me into Sabrina, who was a very regular girl confronted with a life-altering moment.”
Vidya is now looking forward to The Dirty Picture. but admits, “I don’t know how I will prepare myself but I know (director) Milan Luthria knows how to present me in that role.

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani Mukherjee
One is a Bengali by chance. The other a Bengali by choice. Between them on Monday evening, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan were more like two Bengalis coming home to Calcutta than two big Bollywood stars coming to the city to promote their film.
The last time Rani and Vidya were seen together in Calcutta was in August, in the front row of designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s debut show in the city at Taj Bengal. On Monday, the venue was the same and both were again wearing Sabyasachi but this time the spotlight was firmly on the two women.
They had flown in from Mumbai earlier in the morning. And the moment they set foot in Calcutta, Vidya had squealed out loud at the airport. A concerned Rani turned around and asked her what had happened. “I am in my city!” Vidya replied. “Pagol meye!” Rani concluded.
A few hours later Rani was in the mood to make most of that mad streak. “I am telling you Vidya was a Bengali in her last birth... she loves to speak Bengali, she loves to eat Bengali food and she loves Bengali men,” Rani announced even as a stunned Vidya didn’t know how to react.
And then came the killer line. “Vidya would love to get married to a Bengali man who has a long surname ending with ‘jee’, like Chatterjee or Mukherjee,” Rani quipped, before adding: “She would love to be a Mrs Mukherjee.”
The impromptu Bengali jamming between the two Bolly beauties didn’t end there. Recovering from this sudden onslaught, Vidya started singing the Autograph chartbuster — “Aamake aamar moto thakte dao... aami nijeke nijer moto guchhiye niyechhi...”
Rani was not done. “See, her Bengali pronunciation sounds like a Bengali.” Vidya was ready with the repartee this time — “Karon aami mon theke Bangali!”
If Vidya’s Bengali was sounding just right — after spending two months in the city shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani — Rani’s Bengali was sounding very Lokhandwala. “Don’t make me speak more Bengali... I am getting exposed,” the Miss Mukerji herself pleaded.
Raj Kumar Gupta, director of No One Killed Jessica, confirmed that even on the sets of the film, which is inspired by the Jessica Lal murder case, it was one big, mad Bengali party. With Sabyasachi designing for both the actresses in the film, “everyone was jabbering in Bengali all the time”.
What’s more, they even shot a few crucial scenes of the film here in Calcutta — Maidan to New Market, Ballygunge to Dum Dum. “Sabrina Lal’s (Jessica’s sister, played by Vidya) journey brings her to Calcutta and it was important that we actually came to Calcutta to shoot that portion,” Raj Kumar revealed.
Cut to Monday morning, and it was Rani who was taking a trip down Calcutta memory lane. The actress had gone straight from the airport to Elgin Road for a bhanr of tea.
“It’s a place where my maa and mashi used to take me from the very beginning for bhanrer cha,” Rani told Metro. “I really enjoy it. There are so many things I would love to do here in Calcutta but I always come with so much work in hand that it never happens.”
But what binds Vidya to Calcutta? “Rani is always curious about my Bengali connection... ‘what is this connection I want to understand’, she asks me,” Vidya said. “Wish I could understand it myself....”
So has she become more Bangali than Rani? “That I don’t know, that I don’t know,” Vidya laughed out loud with a twinkle in her eye. “But all I can say is that Tomate aamate dekha hoyechhilo, jaani naa kobe kothay... That’s what I feel about Calcutta.”

Vidya Balan to mark Ekta Kapoor's ‘Ragini MMS’
The report further revealed that while talking to a daily, a source confirmed the news and said, “Kangna walked out of the film, perhaps because she had developed cold feet about the movie. This is a bold movie and it needs an actress who can do justice to a strong portrayal. Vidya can deliver such intense roles with confidence. She is anyway doing ‘Dirty Picture’, based on the life of Silk Smitha, with Ekta, and her company felt that she`s appropriate for the role.
So, they`ve approached her.” When contacted, the CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, said, “I don`t want to say anything at this stage. But the film is definitely on.” After playing the power-packed role of Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica in ‘No One Killed Jessica’ and sex-siren Silk Smitha in ‘Dirty Picture’, it seems Vidya is keen on a serious image makeover and has become a hot favourite of Bollywood filmmakers, the website reported.
