Abhishek Bachchan and Game co-star Sarah Jane Dias chilled out with winners of a contest organized by a game portal at Hotel Novotel in Juhu, Mumbai on Thursday, March 31. While Abhishek, 35, looked sporty in faded jeans, white crew neck tee, and blue sports jacket; Sarah looked hot in a plunging pink mini dress and blue ankle cuff sandals.

The co-stars were accompanied by film producer Farhan Akhtar and director Abhinay Deo. Abhishek talked with the young contest winners in his affable style, signed autographs, and posed with fans. The film that opened in theaters today, April 1, is a story of 4 strangers who have been invited by the reclusive Kabir Malhotra (Anupam Kher), to his private island of Samos, Greece. They don't know each other and they don't know him; and by the next morning they wish they had never come.

Abhishek, Kangana to play husband and wife in RGV's 'Department

After delivering a two part film 'Rakta Charitra’ last year, Ram Gopal Varma, who is now attempting to bring a dark action drama for his next tilted ‘Department’, has signed in actors Kangana Ranaut and Abhishek Bachchan as the main leads in the film.

‘Department’ will be the second film for Kangana and Abhishek as the duo has earlier shared screen space in their upcoming film ‘Game’. Interestingly in this forthcoming RGV film, Abhishek and Kangana will be seen playing husband and wife.

Other than these two actors, the filmmaker is also bringing in Amitabh and Sanjay Dutt with interesting roles in ‘Department’. Speaking about the story of this dark thriller, RGV stated, “The story is about three cops and the extra-constitutional activities they engage in to maintain a civil society. Kangana is the only person in the world that Abhishek's character can share his agony with. She plays a very intense role in this dark, gritty and real drama.”

RGV, who has signed Kangana on Monday, stated that he roped in the actress for ‘Department’ after seeing her breathtaking performance in films like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Woh Lamhe’.

"I wondered why we haven't worked together as yet! Kangna very much fits into my vision as a filmmaker. She is intense and emotional on screen.

I've wanted to work with her, from the time she appeared in Gangster and Woh Lamhe. But I didn't want to cast her in anything insignificant. The role had to justify her presence,” stated Varma.

Kangana spotted with Salman It’s heard that recently Salman, who was in Mehboob studio busy shooting promos for ‘Ready’ with Asin, had wrapped up his shoot immediately after he came to know that Kangana was shooting in the same studio.

Speaking about Salman and Kangana enjoying each other’s company, a source stated, “He's extremely fond of her. The fact that he was extremely eager to spend time with her on the sets, speaks volumes. She, too, was excited about having him around.”

Miss India World Sarah-Jane Dias, who makes her Bollywood debut with Abhishek Bachchan in Abhinay Deo’s Game, says that she was nervous about doing intimate scenes with her co-star in the film.

“I won’t lie…I was nervous. But Abhishek being the kind of person he is, he made it very easy and comfortable for me,” Sarah said.

The 28-year-old model-turned-actor feels this movie was perfect for her B-town entry.

“When I went for the first time for auditions at Excel Entertainment for Game I had no idea how big it would be. I believe producers have changed the face of Indian film industry. With Abhinay, a veteran director in Ad films, directing the movie and Abhishek as a co-star I would be a fool to say no. I feel it is a perfect launch pad for me,” Sarah said.
The movie is a slick edge-of-the-seat thriller with twists and turns involving love, revenge, retribution, and good old-fashioned murder. Everyone is a suspect, and every suspect has a motive.

When asked what she would fight for in life, Sarah said, “I will fight for love.”

In offer to safeguard tigers, Amitabh barters sunglasses to son

In an offer to safeguard the tiger from eradication, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan today sold his sunglasses for a whopping Rs 40 lakh to his son Abhishek at Pench Tiger Reserve in eastern Madhya Pradesh.

In Pench for last two days to participate in a campaign organised by NDTV, the megastar auctioned his sunglasses over cell phone to contribute to the fund to save the species which is facing a grave threat of extinction.

On the occasion, famous playback singer Shanker Mahadevan enthralled audience with his songs. While a forest guard Kamlesh was felicitated for putting his life at stake to save endangered species, a journalist Sanjeev Choudhary was honoured for his reporting on wild life, especially the big cats. Amitabh is scheduled to leave for Mumbai tomorrow morning by a special plane.

The trailer for Abhinay Deo's new film looks pretty darned slick. Frantically flashing lights signal Istanbul, where Abhishek Bachchan is introduced to us as a druglord, talking about a Latin phrase but saying just a word, something Kangna Ranaut translates. More lights, and we're in Bangkok, with Boman Irani as a politician.

Next is London, with Shahana Goswami as a journalist, the actress nicely sporting a hipster-grunge new look while getting her police mugshot taken. Then comes Mumbai, where Jimmy Shergill is a movie star, getting shot on a set.



Scarlet dice roll. 'Four strangers,' says the text as we see Anupam Kher and Gauhar Khan waiting. 'Invited to an island...For one reason.' And this is when we cut to a scorching hot, sensational Sarah Jane Dias, here called Maya. Clearly she can carry off red lipstick real good. As a club song kicks in, there is a montage of her and Abhishek getting it on...

And then a crash. 'That was my daughter', Kher says as the four strangers sit around, damned. 'I've been collecting evidence. All four of you are finished.'

And then we see Kangna, an intelligence officer, keeping tabs on all four. Motives are thrown up -- Power, Fame, Truth, Love amid a crisp, well-cut montage of chases, gunfights, standoffs. "It's not over," Kangna wryly smiles.

A pawn falls into a pool of blood, the letters Game emerge before an hourglass shatters, telling us we'll see this gang in March 2011. Looking good, Mr Deo. Decidedly one of the better trailers in recent times, even though it does give away more than an inkling of the story. Or does it?

Either way, it looks intriguing. Bachchan looks more fun than he has in ages, Goswami and Gauhar are always fun to watch, and if Sarah Jane Dias can act as good as she can stun, whoa.

Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh for 'The Italian Job'

So, finally, director duo Abbas – Mustan’s remake of the cult heist film ‘The Italian Job’ is taking some shape. Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif have been signed on for the lead roles in this film, titled ‘Players’, which is to be produced by Studio 18.

Earlier there was a lot of confusion with regard to the female lead as none of the top Bollywood actresses were willing to step into the film as the heroine has hardly anything substantial to do in the male centric film. But now we hear Katrina has given her nod. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. It is being said that the budget of the film is around Rs 40 crore, excluding prints and advertising. Meantime, the directors are also working on the sequel to ‘Race’ which is expected to release next year.

Aishwarya Rai rested the eye at the second showing of Vipul and Shefali Shah's play 'Bus Itna Sa Khwab' on August 22 late night at Rangsharda theatre, Bandra in Mumbai. She accompanied husband Abhishek Bachchan and pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan to the event, dressed in a white button front loose fit shirt with folded sleeves and black slim pants. She kept cozy carrying a black and gray scarf.

She wore white peeptoe pumps with a black bow top and carried a black clutch. Her hot pink nails were a rare sighting on her. Abhishek looked cute in a white shirt with a pink floral print detail on the front, light blue jeans, brown pointy leather shoes and a brown striped scarf to keep him warm. The trio sat in the front row, next to Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna. "Incredible play 'bas itna saa khwab' and Shefali Shah, Vipul's wife, my wife in film 'Waqt', is just unbelievable..choked with emotion!" Amitabh tweeted after the show.

Talking about her role in the play, a socio-psychological thriller about the purpose of life and how reality is replaced by illusions, Shefali said, "I am playing Shalini's character which has got so many layers to it. She's the most relatable woman and yet she can surprise you. My challenge is to portray her in a way that everyone can identify with her."

After two decades, film producer Karan Johar is ready to revitalize the role with today's superstar Hrithik Roshan.

Although, it was a dream of Amitabh's son actor Abhishek Bachchan to play the character but he was not even offered up.

Hrithik is said to be Karan's first option to play this character, where he will be seen playing an international criminal.

This character of 'Dina Nath' garnered a national award for Mr. Bachchan. Karan Malhotra will direct the remake of Agneepath.

Previously, it was believed that Abhi will be playing the role played by Big B and Jaya Bachchan will be seen in the character of his mother.

The sources said, "Abhishek Bachchan was never approached for the role in the remake version. Debutant Karan Malhotra will be writing and directing the remake of the movie. The character of Hrithik will have an influence of Al Pacino in 'Scarface'." The failure of Abhishek's recent release Raavan may be one of the reasons of not being selected for the role.

The choice of Hrithik is acceptable given his international looks, which is perfect for the movie as he will play an international gangster with a chic and happening look. Bollywood stars shine at "Raavan" world premiere in London

Hundreds of screaming fans lined the red carpet at the British Film Institute with the two screen stars fully appreciating the enthusiasm and growing international popularity of Bollywood movies under a new genre of filmmakers.

"It's wonderful. Look at the reception we've got. We are feeling on top of the world and so happy that we came to London to premiere the film," Bachchan, 34, told Reuters Television. In the film Aishwarya Rai, 36, a former Miss World, plays a dancer and wife of a police inspector who is abducted by a ruthless bandit (Bachchan) and held hostage at his jungle hide-out.

The actors performed their own stunts in the film but Aishwarya Rai said the production was as taxing emotionally and creatively as it was physically. Two versions of the movie were filmed back to back - one in Hindi and one in Tamil.

"We talk about how hard it was physically but, that apart, it was creatively challenging for all of us and that's the kind of challenge actors enjoy. So we truly cherished this entire experience," she said.

Also attending the world premiere to lend some family support were Bachchan's parents, the legends of Bollywood cinema Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bhaduri.

"I've never seen anything like this before and it just shows the love and affection that people outside of India have for our films," said Bachchan Snr.

The film also stars Tamil actor Vikram in his Bollywood debut as the police inspector. The actor said he hopes to make a mark with a new audience.

The Mumbai film industry, home to Bollywood, has been the face of commercial Indian cinema for several decades, relegating non-Hindi films to the sidelines.

"This is my first Hindi film so I'm very excited because I'm going to get a totally new audience that kind of gave me a thrill," he said.

A boost in investment in the Bollywood film industry in recent years and a new breed of filmmakers has seen Indian movies receiving much wider global distribution.

Last May the Bollywood film "Kites" had the widest ever release for any film production to date.

Director Mani Ratnam, who is to be honoured with the "Glory to the Filmmaker" award at the next Venice Film Festival, said Bollywood films had become popular in Britain first but this interest was now spreading in Europe and North America.

"I think the UK has always been open to Indian films and is getting more and more so now. It becomes a platform where we can showcase (our movies) to the rest of the world," he said.

"Raavan" opens in British cinemas on June 18.

Aishwarya Rai missing hubby badly

Their busy work schedule usually plays the devil and keeps them away from each other.

Recently when Aishwarya Rai was in Paris for the French Open, she missed.

Hubby Abhishek Bachchan badly. And as soon as she was back in Mumbai, instead of heading home.

‘I’d love to direct Abhishek’

The Karate Kid director, Harald Zwart, whose last film, Pink Panther 2, starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, talks about Hollywood and Bollywood. You came on board the movie after the casting was done. Did the cast get you excited about the movie?

Yeah, absolutely. The Karate Kid is a great franchise, it was something I was dying to do when I heard of it. The fact that Jackie (Chan) and Jaden (Smith) were attached to it kind of sealed the deal. Jackie wasn’t confirmed, but I’m glad he came on board, because no one could have done the role better than him.

What memories do you have of watching the original Karate Kid?

It’s a movie that stays with you, and lives with you. I think everybody has some sort of life before and after.

The Karate Kid. It made us all realize that even if you are being bullied at school, you can stand up for yourself. It was a great way to motivate, and to understand that you don’t have to accept any ill-treatment.

You sound like a fan of the original. Were you nervous when directing the remake? Oh yeah, I’m a huge fan of the original. So the idea was to respect the original movie, but at the same time, I wanted to make it my own movie. We had to! There were certain expectations from fans. We had to give them what they wanted but it also had to be fresh enough for them to enjoy it on its own merit.

Were you bullied as a kid? Did you use any such personal memories in the film?
(Laughs) No, I wasn’t. I have been in fights though, like every kid has. And I remember those fights were just as dangerous as what you would have when you are grown up. That’s why it was important for me to not treat this movie like a kid’s movie. I wanted the fighting to be as real and as grown up as it could. I made sure that I respected the children, and not make the film lighter or dumber because they are kids.

The movie is also funnier than the original. Is it the Jackie Chan effect?
Even Jaden’s a very funny kid! Jackie has a great sense of humour and I’ve always been a fan of his movies. But Jaden loves doing practical jokes too. In my movies, I like to pop the seriousness of scenes with a funny ending, without anyone consciously trying to be funny.

Jaden’s parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith produced the film, but weren’t they worried about the risky stunts?
I think they juggled the jobs of parents and producers really well. It’s obvious that they are a really hard-working family. They like reaching for perfection, and that made my job easier. As for the stunts, we made sure Jaden was never in harm’s way. Even if he had to do a split on a roof, there was enough safety around. In the original movie, Ralph Macchio’s character was a teenager, so the stunts weren’t considered too risky. In fact, I felt that the fact that Jaden is younger, made his character more vulnerable and the story stronger. Because, a 12-year-old has less control over his life, and the stakes become higher. Also, Jaden is very focused. He has a mature soul, and that made the story more believable.

Chan has only one fight sequence. Wasn’t it tempting to give him more?
(Laughs) Yeah, that was very tempting. And well, there might be some surprises for you on the DVD. But yeah, we just worked really hard not to go there. The movie was always about Jaden. Jackie, more than anything else, proved himself to be a great actor in the movie. He was very excited to become a soulful master and really had a blast playing a low key, mysterious man.

Do you know any Kung Fu yourself?
(Chuckles) I don’t know much, but I know enough to make a film on kung fu!

You said, in an interview, how you shot a part of The Karate Kid like Slumdog Millionaire. Was it an inspiration?
Oh yeah, Slumdog has been a huge inspiration to me! I wanted the chase sequences in the movie to be shot like those of Slumdog. It’s tough when you have a crew of 500, but I think we pulled it off.

Have you seen any Indian movies?
Yes, I have seen some. Before I met Aishwarya (Rai Bachchan) for Pink Panther, I had done my research. (Chuckles) But all the movies had difficult names.

What memories do you have of working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan?
Oh, she’s an incredibly professional and fun person to be around. It’s always amazed me how humble huge stars are. When the cameras were not rolling, she was one of the nicest people in the world to hang out with. She is a great human being and I’d love to work with her again.

Any other Indian actors you’d like to work with?
Well, Aishwarya’s husband… I forget his name. Abhishek? Yeah, he’s a terrific guy, I think. I’d love to direct him someday.

Ever fancy making a movie in India?
I would love to shoot in India, even if it’s only for a commercial. I’m really amazed by the country and want to see it for sure.
