Bipasha Basu returns for Bhatt's Raaz 3

After being at loggerheads for a while now, looks like Bipasha Basu is being welcomed back into the Bhatt camp with open arms. On Thursday, she signed the much talked-about third part of the Raaz franchise and was officially back to being a Bhatt girl.

Bipasha Basu returns for Bhatt's Raaz 3"Mukesh Bhatt wanted Bipasha to do an item song in Murder 2. But Bipasha demand for a huge amount of money took the Bhatts by surprise. The Bhatt's were not pleased with her attitude, especially since they were instrumental in Bipasha's rise to stardom by casting her in films Jism and Raaz at an early stage of her career.

In fact, the Bhatt's were so upset that Bipasha was not even invited to the Murder 2 success party. All this, though, is a thing of the past. Bipasha has slashed her price for the Bhatt camp and signed Raaz 3," says a source close to the camp.

When contacted, Mukesh Bhatt confirmed, "Yes, I can say that Bipasha has been welcomed home. She was destined to do the best and in Vishesh Films, we are giving her the best."When asked about the price factor and the dispute, Mukesh Bhatt was unwilling to divulge details of the fallout. He said, "The fact is that we are working together, which means we have a beautiful understanding. Let bygones be bygones. It is a home-coming for her and for Vikram Bhatt. We are all set to make a box office bonanza and we promise that it will be bigger than the first Raaz."

Vikram Bhatt, echoing Mukesh's sentiments, said, "Bipasha is an important part of the team that created the brand Raaz. I am happy to be working with her again and I am determined to recreate the same magic, with the whole-hearted support of the Murder 2 team - Emraan and Jacqueline, along with writer Shagufta Rafique. Just await the three idiots of horror and romance."

Hollywood project gave me fresh perspective: Basu

Hollywood project gave me fresh perspective: Bipasha BasuBengali beauty Bipasha Basu has completed a decade in the Hindi film industry and donned numerous roles, but her forthcoming international venture `Singularity`, she says, gave her a fresh perspective towards acting.

" `Singularity` has been a fantastic experience because I have been in the film industry for a long time now. But this film gave me a completely fresh take towards acting," the 32-year-old actress told reporter in an interview. "It just introduced me to a new kind of acting, new kind of cinema, which for an artist is great," she added.

Bipasha stars as a Maratha warrior in the period film that is being helmed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffe. It also stars Hollywood star Josh Hartnett. "My role is that of a Maratha warrior and the backdrop of the film is the Anglo-Maratha war in 18th-century colonial India. It`s basically the love story between a British soldier and this Maratha queen that is played by me," she revealed.

The actress, who has worked in films like `Ajnabee`, `Apaharan`, `Corporate`, `Race` and `Bachna Ae Haseeno`, among others, said `Singularity` just fell into her lap. "Any actor would give an arm to work with Joffe and for me it happened so easily. I kind of bumped into him and he just loved my voice and cast me in the lead role," Bipasha said. "I was in Los Angeles and I just happened to say hello to him because a friend of mine knew him and I was there for a meeting. So for me this role just fell into my lap," she added.

Bipasha has always been known for fitness and her perfect 10 body. Because of her fitness levels, the actress was itching to do an action role and her dream came true with "Singularity" and another forthcoming film `Players`. "Yes, I was looking forward to doing action roles and I`m so glad that I got an opportunity to do that in not one but two of my films. I`m looking forward to both," said the ex-model. Bipasha will be seen in many much-awaited films this year. So would she call 2011 a very exciting and productive year for her?

"Every year has been very exciting for me. There has been a little bit of re-invention that I do as an artist every time because our business is very harsh," the actress said. "There are a number of fears. If the screen presence of female actors is longer, people tend to get a little harsh on you but thankfully with me people have been very appreciable," she added.

"Every year, I project myself and re-invent myself as an artist. I don`t let any staleness creep into me and even as an artist, I think that`s exciting for me," she added. Along with `Singularity` and `Players`, Bipasha will also be seen in `Dum Maaro Dum`, which will be her first release for the year.

Bipasha Basu smokes up a blazing storm

A firm anti-smoker, Bipasha Basu had put her foot down when asked to smoke while shooting for Dum Maaro Dum. But then, director Rohan Sippy wanted her to look authentic in her role as a hippie and hence wanted her to practise lighting a joint. It was after much persuasion that Bipasha agreed to smoke just once so that her director gets the best shot. But things didn’t seem to go as planned. Incidentally, after making Bipasha go through the entire process of rolling up the joint and lighting it, Rohan apparently decided to chop off the entire scene, leaving Bipasha fuming over the whole episode.

Bipasha Basu smokes up a blazing storm“Here I am spending an entire day rolling nicotine into paper and trying to make a cigarette and there Rohan goes ahead and completely cuts off the shot,” says Bipasha, adding, “I was so angry with Rohan and I asked him the reason behind all of this. But he had no explanation to offer. I was really upset for the time wasted and the psychosis I had to go through because of smoking.

It took a while for Bipasha to regain her composure. “I then made it very clear to Rohan that I would not try this again. Just going through it once was bad enough for me, so he better not change his mind,” says, the actress with a smile. Now, here’s one true blue fitness freak.

Bipasha Basu - ‘Rana astonished us with his diction’

She strolls in brandishing a flower printed summer dress, with wooden and beaded wristbands beautifying her wrists, looking each spot the element of a chipper Goan young lady from her most cutting edge picture Dum Maaro Dum. “You will disregard Bipasha Basu. It's my element Zoe that you will recall,” she states with a grin, settling down to talk.

Bipasha Basu - ‘Rana astonished us with his diction’

Dum Maaro Dum carries her over on screen with her Dhoom 2 co-star Abhishek Bachchan. Once more, she is not thrown inverse Abhishek but with Rana Daggubati. “There's a brand new feel to the picture in light of the science in the middle of me and Rana. When Rohan told me a South Indian performing artist will go for the Goan artist, I was diverted. I wondered if he'd have the ability to get the lingual authority right. Rana astonished us. He knew not just his lines, but moreover my lines and each different performer's discoursed,” declares Bipasha.

She is at ease, she says, working with relatively new actors. “I worked with John in his first film. I worked with Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseeno after his first film was a box office debacle. Neil Nitin Mukesh didn't have a great start with Johnny Gaddar but I did Aa Dekhe Zara with him. If I like a film, the set up and director I am game. In fact, Abhishek and I liked working with Rana and Prateik who have a high level of interest towards work,” she says.

She likes to call Dum Maaro Dum a new age thriller. “There are three pivotal stories — that of Abhishek, Prateik, and Rana and me — that intertwine. The tagline ‘kya hai kahani tere paap ki?' says it all. Each one of us has done something in the past and we pay for our sins. Using Goa as a backdrop has added flavour to the characters. The film explores the drug underbelly of Goa. As Zoe, I am an upbeat girl who represents the spirit of the touristy Goa we all know. I like the way Rohan has used a bit of Konkani and old Portugese music in the background,” she shares.

If she is seen in fewer movies nowadays, she doesn't make excuses of ‘being choosy' or ‘selective': “In the last six years, I've been doing only three movies a year. If I take up more work, I'd die of exhaustion. I am busy with endorsements, events, fitness DVDs, shows, movies and looking after my house. I cannot just spend my life working. I love to live life.” After 10 years of acting, Bipasha is ready for newer challenges. “I moved to acting because I got bored of modelling. I never went to an acting school. Recently, I did a few workshops for my English film, Singularity, directed by Rolland Joffe. I never went out of my way to try and work in an English film and was happy when the offer came to me. Working under Rolland is a dream and I am learning a lot. I am a Maratha warrior, a bodyguard to the Indian queen, who falls in love with a British soldier. The film is an action drama with a beautiful story,” she says.

Bipasha Basu & John Abraham patch-up again

Bipasha Basu and John Abraham spend increasing time apart and fuel rumours of their relationship hitting a rough patch. Again! Now, the two haven't made an appearance in the longest time.

Bipasha Basu & John Abraham patch-up again

Given, Bips has been keeping a low profile off late herself. But at Hrithik Roshan's birthday bash she arrived with designer Rocky S by her side and not her long-time companion. A source reveals, "She was keen that John accompany her but he preferred to skip it.

Interestingly, Bipasha's ex Dino Morea was also at the same party and this has sent the gossip mill running faster. When asked to comment on her relationship status, Bipasha quickly defends, "I am used to this now. Both of us have been busy so we have not been seen in public. I was travelling for work and he's been shooting for Vipul Shah's film. All going good!"

Bipasha Basu: I could never shift base

The Bong beauty might have shifted her gears and is shooting for her first international project — but actor Bipasha Basu wouldn’t want to shift base out of Bollywood ever. “Bollywood has made me who I am. I cannot even think of shifting base anywhere else. I am very clear about my priorities. Whatever work I take up, in any country, my base will always be Mumbai and I will always operate from here,” says Bipasha.

Bipasha Basu: I could never shift base

The sultry actor says she can never imagine herself staying in the US or the UK (with a work visa) for half-a-year at a stretch. “It will be too much for me. I’ll feel homesick. I need my family and John (actor John Abraham) to be around me. I am too used to it. It would be a huge problem if my routine changes. I am not too comfortable with changes,” she adds.

Bipasha informs that though she is coming out with her second Fitness DVD, she is yet to shoot for it. “The creative and the pre-production process of the DVD is over. I will do a little bit of preparation and then shoot for it in January. I am sure that by early next year, I should be ready with my DVD,” she informs.

Talking about her international project, Bipasha says that she has gone through the history of the first Anglo-Maratha war on which her Hollywood film Singularity is based. “We have all read history and the Anglo-Maratha war was a part of the curriculum. All I needed was a bit of an advanced study to figure out a little more about the character that I would be playing,” she says.

Bipasha says she would never go hunting for a role ever, “Hunting for a role was never my thing. All my life I have been offered work and I am used to things that way. This project also fell on my lap. This time (an earlier international project didn’t work out) the subject was very good, the director and stars were also stellar. This time I knew right from the start that there couldn’t be a better opportunity for me,” she ends.

Bipasha Basu sacks international assignment

Bipasha Basu sacks international assignmentAfter sizzling on Bollywood screen for almost a decade, dusky beauty Bipasha Basu has signed her first international project -- English-French director Roland Joffe's Singularity. The 31-year-old is extremely excited and admits she does have butterflies in her stomach. "I am very excited...but have to admit that I am also a little nervous. Everything happened really fast," Bipasha told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Bipasha met Joffe in a chance encounter at the Taj Land's End Hotel in Mumbai in September. The $33 million movie, written by Ajey Jhankar, is a riveting tale of an impossible love set across two time periods and continents.

It is set in the backdrop of the First Anglo-Maratha War of the 18th century and revolves around four characters - a British officer in colonial India and the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his researcher lover -- who gets trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship. The film will be shot in Australia and India. Bipasha will be flying to Brisbane in the first week of November. Bipasha, who will be missing Diwali for the initial rehearsals for the film, says she would have loved to get some more time to prepare for her role.

"I am not getting much of preparation time right now. I have been given just eight days to prepare for underwater scenes and horse riding...I wish I had at least a month's time for preparation," she said. As much as she would have liked to, Bipasha is also not getting much time to brush up on her history. "There is just no time before I fly out! I have finished all my pending endorsement assignments and now I will try and grasp whatever I can there itself," she said.

Nevertheless, she is looking forward to working with Hollywood actors. "The script is fantastic. They have a lot of expertise in their field...it's going to be a whole lot of hard work, and it's going to be great fun to adapt to their system of working," she said. Singularity also stars Bollywood actor Abhay Deol besides Hollywood stars Chris Pine, Josh Hartnett, Olga Kurylenko, Christopher Egan and Shane Briant, among others.

Bipasha will shoot from the third week of November till the last week of December in Brisbane. Her upcoming Indian projects include Dum Maaro Dum and Abbas-Mustan's Players. Bipasha is glad that Abbas-Mustan, who gave her a launchpad with 2001 film Ajnabee, were accommodating enough to adjust their dates so that she could give her nod to Singularity.

Bipasha Basu inches toward getting beaten up by her 'husband'

Bipasha Basu inches toward getting beaten up by her 'husband'Since Bipasha Basu has always been known as a hot and sexy actress, it is hard to imagine her in the role of a submissive housewife. But that's exactly what she plays in Aakrosh, a film that is directed by Priyadarshan. In the movie, Bips is a simple Bihar- based housewife who suffers violence at the hands of her husband played by Paresh Rawal.

The film, which deals with the issue of honour killing, also highlights the evil of domestic violence. According to sources from the film's unit, all scenes of violence and abuse were shot in a manner to make both the actors - Paresh and Bipasha - comfortable. The professionals that the two are, we hear they tried to make the scenes look as realistic as possible. We hope the movie does well.
