Asin and Genelia in Bol Bachchan
Rohith Shetty’s next film Bol Bachchan will star Genelia and Asin in the female lead roles. They will be romancing Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn in this movie. First it was rumored that Samantha will be making her Bollywood debut with this film. But she denied that no one approached her with the proposal.
Asin and Genelia are the two actresses who proved their mettle in South and then moved their base to Bollywood. Genelia has a hit film Jaane Tu and Asin was a part of two blockbusters Ghajini and Ready. It will be interesting to see these damsels taking on each other in one film. Rohith Shetty is surely having an eye on South film industry as he has given Kajal Agarwal her big ticket to Bollywood with the film Singham.

Genelia D'Souza's Wild Femina Front Page
The actress adds that the film will please fans of thrillers and romantic comedies alike as it packs in both action and love. "It's an action thriller with a heart. It's a cop's story, but also a love story. You can't miss his girl, she's always there," Genelia.
Sounds like someone is making sure she isn't forgotten and left behind when John starts flexing his muscles! Do you think Genelia and John will bring their force to Force? What do you think of Gen's cover on the March issue of Femina? Hot or not?

Genelia D’Souza Is Frist John’s GF
The casting of the leading lady opposite John Abraham in the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Kaakha Kaakha had producer Vipul Shah, director Nishikant (Mumbai Meri Jaan) Kamat and leading man John Abraham climbing collectively up the nearest wall. First it was Asin who had been signed. But then she chose to give away her dates to the Salman Khan starrer Ready directed by Anees Bazmi. Desperate for a heroine, Vipul Shah’s spirits soared when his London Dreams heroine Katrina Kaif was suddenly with free dates after the postponement of Dostana 2. But she chose a Yashraj film with Imran instead.
Matters came to a point where the team was ready to shoot without a heroine in the hope that a suitable match for John will show up next. Luckily Genelia d’Souza has now stepped in to the empty space.
Lately things have not been moving too smoothingly the perky Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na actress. John and Genelia got to know one another well during the cellphone ad that they did together. It was only a matter of time before a movie materialized. The shooting of the untitled Hindi version of Kaakha Kaakha began on Saturday. Producer Vipul Shah confirmed the last-minute casting of Genelia. “Yes, she’s the girl opposite John. We’re in the process of signing papers even as we speak. ”

Genelia D’souza in the remake of Khakha Khakha
She has replaced Asin in opposite to John Abraham for this film. There has been a huge question mark over Asin's replacement. Even Sonam Kapoor or Diana Petty were expected to be in for Asin in this movie.
But finally it was Genelia who will play the lead female character of the Tamil remake. The shooting of this film will be start in this month itself.
One of Genelia's friends has clarified that Genelia had already worked with John in Hook Ya Crook but the film was cancelled after 90% of shooting due to some reason.
As the film is an action movie, Genelia is going to play a critical role. The Bollywood remake is having an important part for the female lead in this movie.
Earlier John has denied to get paired with Asin and then Vipul Shah was looking forward to take Sonam for the film.
Then model Diana Petty was taken in to consideration but finally Genelia has been signed for this role.

Genelia D'Souza Goes Blue on Elle and Cosmo Cover
If we didn't know better we would think that Shahid Kapoor's Chance Pe Dance co-star Genelia D'Souza has got the blues! The B-town starlet doesn't miss a chance to don the color blue when she graces the cover of magazines and now she's at it again!
Showing off her cool look on the front page of Elle's July issue, Genelia Sports a gorgeous blue Stella McCartney outfit, looking very different from when she graced the cover of Cosmo magazine in a simple blue jeans skirt and a white top.
So will this new, tough image translate onto the silver screen? Will we soon see the normally lovable actress take on more tough roles that involves action-filled stunts and dangerous scenes? Well we can't tell for sure, but it sure looks like the Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na actress is looking to change her image drastically! Which one of Genelia's blue cover do you prefer? Elle or Cosmopolitan?

Genelia's time to pay back
But Genelia owes her dues to the South film Industry as she worked there and kept her going when she wasn’t successful in B'wood. So that could be a strong reason for her to not attend the IIFA. Genelia it’s a good was to pay back.

I love being romantic - Cute Genelia
But could that be passe? Ask Genelia on this, says a candid Genelia, "If the content is romantic.
The films comes to be naturally since it suits me and the story. Surely, I relish playing bubbly and playful characters which is why thes efilms came to me. But in reali life, I’m affectionate, yet a mischievous girl. I don’t like tensions."
Anymore more on the reali life? Genelia adjoins, “I respect my family and work. I like being friendly.
And never get into challenges and that’s how I was all through my school and college.
On rumors, Genelia comes strongly saying, “I don’t care about rumors and gossips. To me, I’m concerned about current and what I am doing now.”
Genelia is currently busy shooting for a Tamil fim ‘Uthama Puthiran’ starring Dhanush. This film is a Telugu remake of blockbuster film ‘Ready’, directed by Srinu Vytla.

Genelia’s the lady SRK of ad world
In her kitty than any of the Bollywood leading ladies. With about 9-11 endorsement deals; Genelia has undoubtedly become.
The favourite face amongst Indian advertisers. And the girl is all kicked about the fact that she adorns the TV screens in every commercial break.
“I feel happy that people don’t get bored seeing my face so often on TV,” she jokes and adds, “Shooting for these ads give me a great high. The concepts and creativity make it super fun.”
We further ask Genelia what makes her click with the advertisers? “I think it’s my girl next door image. The brands I endorse are targeted towards the youth and it’s due to my bubbly nature that the youth can relate to me better than other actresses.”
Interestingly, the only other Bollywood face that’s such a regular when it comes to advertisements is Shah Rukh Khan who endorses products right from pens.
And talcum powder to hair oil and underwear. And with her endorsement line-up, Genelia seems all geared up to match up Shah Rukh.

Cute Genelia waiting for Mr. Perfect
No tight tees. No fancy baggy jeans. No cool hair dripping gel. These are far from the criteria for Genelia's 'Mr. Right'. "I hate self styled flamboyant braggarts. And males who simply put down others can beat a hasty retreat from me," she adds. Saying she is yet to find her 'Mr Perfect', Genelia also dismisses reports that she is seeing young actor Riteish Deshmukh.

Everybody loves Genelia
Went through the strangest of feelings while I said my goodbyes...’’ Well, the young actor’s (she is 23) Melbourne experience has since been played out by the media, including her stance on the continent being safe for both Indian students and tourists. During her visit, she also met Bronwyn Pike, the education minister of the state of Victoria.
When we meet in her hotel room, she begins, ‘‘When we go for shootings abroad, we generally go to the most secluded places the hills and picturesque areas but ‘Orange’ is a city film and so we have been on the bridges, in trams, etc.
The interaction with people was fun.’’Unofficially known as the current ‘endorsement’ queen - she is the face of more than nine major brands - D’ Souza is in high spirits even if the year didn’t start with a bang for her. Her two much-awaited films - ‘Chance Pe Dance’ (with Shahid Kapoor) and ‘Katha’ in Telugu didn’t create ripples at the box-office. She has been busy as a showstopper at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
She also has three major films lined up- David Dhawan’s ‘Hook Ya Crook’ with John Abraham, ‘It’s my Life’, a remake of her Telugu super hit ‘Bommarillu’, co-starring Harman Baweja, and ‘Uthama Puthiran’, yet another remake of her Telugu superhit ‘Ready’, with Dhanush.
Pan-Asian impact
In person, there is very little to distinguish D’Souza from the energetic Aditi Mahant (“except for the fact that I don’t abuse like her in real life,’’ she clarifies) in ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’. Like Aditi, she displays a level of maturity as the talk veers towards her life and career. She says she is the bridge between the North and South, having acted in Bollywood as well as the Telugu, Tamil and Kannada industries. “I am as much a part of Bollywood as I am of Tollywood.
I am a part of Kannada films too. There is hardly any time to rest,’’ she begins. But she quickly adds that she loves this pace. ‘‘Sometimes, while shooting, I crib for an off and after two days I don’t know what to do. So I am back on my feet.’’ But becoming a popular actor in Bollywood is a lot of hard work, she insists. ‘‘We are up at 4 a.m. when the whole world is asleep.’’
From bridesmaid to star
Perhaps due to her choice of films or her slight frame, D’Souza is often perceived to be a tomboy. She admits that with such an image, it was initially tough to make an impact in Bollywood. Incidentally, much before she joined the “glamour industry’’, her priority was sports.
This state-level athlete, sprinter and national level football player (school) adds that she “wasn’t even thinking about (films) as a career option as there was no one in my family even remotely connected to films. And it wasn’t really that I grew up loving films.’’
She was discovered at a wedding, where she was one of six bridesmaids. She was asked to show up at an agency with her portfolio the next day. As she didn’t have a portfolio, she took her birthday pictures along instead. The next thing she knew, she had bagged the Parker pen ad with Amitabh Bachchan.
The Khan factor
In films, what worked in her favour was her perky attitude. She struck gold with two Southern hits- Shankar’s ‘Boys’ in Tamil and the Telugu ‘Bommarillu’. In 2008, she made her Bollywood re-entry with ‘Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na’ and she hasn’t looked back since.
‘‘Those without godfathers don’t get a second chance. I did. Because I’m God’s favourite child,’’ she chortles. ‘Bommarillu’ (2006) won her a Filmfare award and was later remade in Tamil, Kannada and now in Hindi, with D’Souza in the lead.
‘I’ll continue to do Southern films. It’s a huge market. Right now it’s great to know people in the South write roles keeping Genelia in mind,’’ she grins. What’s more- she reveals that Anupam Chopra, the Australia-based producer of ‘Orange’ who teaches filmmaking there, is making her character, Hasini Rao, in ‘Bommarillu’ one of his case studies. ‘‘I thought it was a huge compliment,’’ she says.
As for being part of the new crop of young and talented stars, D’Souza believes that there is no competition, just a lot of ‘‘positivity around.’’ ‘‘I have worked with Shahid (Kapoor), Imran (Khan), John (Abraham), Charan (Teja) and with pretty much all the young actors in Bollywood (except Ranbir Kapoor) and each one is unique in their own space.
The one thing they all have is the drive. There is healthy competition. It’s not about ‘oh you are doing well, let me see how I can manipulate your career.’ It’s about trying to better oneself. I have had a great time with each one of them,’’ she insists.
Mention her big Bollywood break and she is all praise for Aamir Khan. She calls her experience in Khan’s production, ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, a lesson for life. ‘‘You come out of it a confident actor. You are not treated as someone who doesn’t know her job because you are tested enough for it. I had four screen tests before I was selected and there were some 400 girls.
So you go there as an actor who wants to do her job and that is something that Aamir instils in you.’’But how does she rate herself against the other young actresses in Bollywood? ‘‘Someone once told me, ‘you have this cute, bubbly tag.’ But I think I have the girl next-door tag,’’ says D’Souza. ‘‘One of my directors pointed out to me that one of my major advantages down south is that I find favour among both genders.’’
Up close and personal
Contrary to her public image, D’Souza admits to feeling lonely at times. ‘‘As much as I’m attached, I’m detached. I’m a very friendly kid but I choose my friends very carefully. I’m very closed. I can’t let people know what I feel. It takes me a lot of time to open up,’’ she admits.
She is traditional yet modern, makes her own decisions, yet is rarely seen on the sets without her mom. She loves Kenny Rogers, hates techno, and her two favourite actors are Dimple Kapadia and Neetu Singh. ‘‘I’m not someone who’ll go topless or backless. I have certain values. As Indian women we just can’t take our clothes off and be so blatant,’’ she insists.
Just when I begin digesting this, she adds that success has not gone to her head as her family keeps her grounded. She points out that she still takes her dogs for a walk in Mumbai and no one bothers her. ‘‘But I will be lying if I say I don’t get excited when someone recognises me. Even in Australia I was not spared,’’ she smiles.
A bit like her screen characters, D’Souza loves to talk and eat. She confides that the yumcha, or Chinese brunch experience, in Australia is now on her list of favourites. ‘‘I don’t believe in dieting because it makes you look rigid. It’s strange how we women like to look scrawny and thin when men actually like meat not bones. I binge on home-made food and my mom does not cook the heavy, oily stuff. As much as I enjoy chips, I have salmon and the steamed stuff a fair mix,’’ she admits.
With plans to start a blog soon, D’Souza admits that the other things on her to-do list include settling down and having a family. But not right now. She says she might as well work hard for it to happen someday. Her idea of Mr Right is someone who is also a good conversationalist.
‘‘There are good looking boys but when they open their mouth all my affection just flies out the window,’’ she pouts, adding that looks are secondary. ‘‘I am a control freak and I prefer someone on a similar basis. I like someone who has a zest for life,’’ she explains, hotly denying all the gossip that she is currently in a relationship. ‘‘I am looking and searching,’’ is all she allows. Now, that won’t break any hearts.

Sunset always makes me pensive - Genelia
In Australia at the moment), the more potent and overpowering is its effect on my mood.
My thoughts and very recently my words ever since I’ve started writing this column.
There are people who romanticise sunset and turn it into the lover in whose arms they can spend.
The beginning of darkness; there are others that term sunset as one of the most beautiful sights nature has bestowed upon us.
Beautiful it sure is, but a sunset is also Mother Nature’s very own double-edged sword.
Every sunset is a glaring reminder of things that come to an end. One day less to work harder to achieve my dreams.
One day less to enjoy the excitement of a new city, one day less to devour good food.
One day less to hear my mom say “I Love You” to me, one day less in the game of life.
The sunset helps you forget the day’s pains and start anew its the bearer of eternal hope.
It is interesting how everything that we do during the day transforms itself into a memory and how strange it is that with the rising sun, memories resurface. But for me, it is always the sun disappearing into the horizon that makes me remember things.
It is always at sunset that I find myself connecting with myself. A sunset triggers in me a memory that either makes me smile wistfully or makes me nostalgic. It makes me tell myself, “If only for a day...”, and depending on whether it is a memory of something good or something bad, I feel this desire to either relive that day again and undo what I did wrong.
Sunsets make me feel responsible for the past that shaped my present and my present that is sculpting my future. I remember as a little girl, my mom would often tell me to make a wish upon the setting sun. Wishes made upon the setting sun come true it is said.
So today, as I look at the setting sun from my window, I think of all the things that I wish to be and my eyes close on that thought...I smile...I wish...I wish upon a wish-bearer — the fading sun — that at this minute is observed by millions of people, but at the same time is giving me my very own moment of peace, love and hope for tomorrow.

Riteish, Jacqueline a couple?
The actor these days is seen in the company of Sri Lankan beauty The two.
Who shared screen space in Aladin, and who also have another movie in the making, are spotted together.
At almost every other event that takes place in the city. Is it that Genelia has no time for Riteish or is this.
Their new way of hiding their ‘friendship’ from the eye of the public? That’s a question only the two can answer.
But for now, all we can say is Jacqueline’s not a bad choice for a ‘friend’, Riteish.

Genelia D'Souza faces cell phone trouble
Genelia D’Souza has been a victim of technology, apparently we hear that her cell-phone got locked recently and that left the cheery actress cut-off from the world and panic-stricken. Narrating the incident the horror of which could only be fathomed by cell phone users, the pretty lady tells that she was besieged by major crises.
But now things are falling in place.Genelia posted comment on a social networking site, “Phone got locked an all my data, contacts were deleted. It was quite a scary situation for today I can’t do without cell-phone but thankfully now situation under control.” Well, Genelia you couldn’t do Chance Pe Dance, for you found your phone and missed an opportunity to buy a new piece. Wotsay?

Genelia D'Souza to endorse Garnier Light fairness cream
Genelia has been signed up as brand ambassador for Garnier Light fairness cream. Unmindful of the fact that.
A fairness cream is scientific humbug that panders to racist insecurities and attitudes. The "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" star tweeted her glee at clinching the new endorsement.
"A lot of u alrdy hrd bout my new brand, while 4 dos of u who dnt, i'm d new brand ambassador 4garnier: )"
Clearly the money that comes with such endorsements matters to Genelia, just as it matters to Deepika, brand ambassador of Johnson & Johnson's new fairness cream Neutrogena Fine Fairness, John Abraham.
Who endorses Garnier Men fairness cream, Sonam Kapoor, the face of L'Oreal white perfect.
And Katrina Kaif who endorses Olay's skin whitening cream. To all these corporate lap dogs our message is: We are disappointed.

Genelia - Ranbir endorse Virgin Mobile
Exclaims Genelia on her twitter account, “Ranbir and I are the new brand ambassadors for ‘Virgin Mobile and I’m really excited to work with him.” Although, Genelia and Ranbir have been entertaining their fans with their respective movies.
But Genelia’s spark and RK’s charm respectively is loved by public which make them an apt choice for promoting this cellular company. And who knows, filmmakers might find an interesting on-screen pair in them and soon Gen-RK team up for a film.

I have never planned my career - Genelia
"Big Switch", which featured 10 rich children who gave up their comfortable lifestyles to fulfil the dreams of slum children.
"'Big Switch' was about a rich dreamer giving up his dreams to make another dreamer's.
Wish come true helping someone who couldn't afford to realise his or her dream.
I have seen some of the most emotional moments between the rich and poor kids.
Which has given me a serious reality check in life," Genelia told IANS over phone from Mumbai.
"There's so much poverty in India, yet the people in slums have the courage to dream.
I took up 'Big Switch' simply because it was a reality show in good light.
The concept exuded positivity, and the soul of the show was very clean," she added.
The show, which aired on UTV Bindass, had its finale Saturday. Genelia played a host, a friend and an advisor to all the children throughout the show. She says she was extremely touched during one episode."I have seen the rich kids do some of the sweetest things for their slum friends.
I have seen them going to the extent of collecting cow dung with their bare hands - and all this for someone they have no relation with. I had tears in my eyes that day and it really gave me a reality check," the 22-year-old said.
Though Genelia is happy with the way her small screen debut turned out, she isn't too sure if she will be seen on television shows again soon. "I haven't really thought about doing any other shows on TV. Films are my main focus at the moment. I have been working very hard for them," she said.
Genelia has been juggling between the southern film industry and Bollywood for the past five years but it was Imran Khan-starrer "Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na" that brought her to the forefront of Hindi movies. Her latest movie "Chance Pe Dance", which paired her with Shahid Kapoor, released to average reviews Friday.
Genelia is now working with the likes of Anees Bazmee in "It's My Life" and David Dhawan-John Abraham in "Hook Ya Crook". Asked if there were any specific roles she wanted to do, Genelia said: "I have never planned my career. Whatever comes my way, I try and make the best of it."

No on-screen kissing for me please - Genelia
It was a dream debut in the Hindi film industry that made her and the guy opposite her- Imraan Khan- new shining stars.
But five Hindi films later, the southern sensation is still looking for her place under the sun.
Tell us about your role in ‘Chance Pe Dance’ My role is that of a choreographer Tina, who plays the love interest of Shahid's character Sameer Behl.
More than anything else she is a caring and nurturing girlfriend, who is Sameer's biggest support system.
Is there any kissing scene in the film between you and Shahid?
Would you have any problems with on-screen kissing or nudity in films? No, there wasn't any kissing scene ever shot by us. When I was approached with the idea of an onscreen kiss.
I refused as I wasn't comfortable. Thus they never did end up shooting for that scene. How was it working with Shahid? Shahid is great fun, full of energy, extremely focussed and hardworking. He was great to work with and some instances in the film do bear resemblance to his real life struggle hence he too feels close to his character.
He ends up starting rumours of going around with all of his leading ladies…but there is not anything linked to you. Surprised? Shahid and I became good friends on the sets and thus we look at each other just as buddies, nothing more or less.
How did you react when you came to know you will be replacing Jiah? Didn’t you think of rejecting the offer, as you were apparently the second choice? The script was reworked when it was offered to me. Hence I was offered a role that was totally different from the one etched out earlier. For me, it was a brand new script that caught my eye. And if I didn't do it, someone else would've.
Based on your experience and if given a choice, which would you choose for a full fledged career- Bollywood or the Telugu industry?
I belong to four industries as we speak! Hence all four matter to me as much. The South industry was instrumental in making me come into my own and made me fall in love with films and acting. And being a name in Bollywood ofcourse is a high, but I don't think I would want to choose for I am happy with how my career has panned out so far, and I hope that it gets better each day.
After a breakthrough performance in ‘Jaane Tu…’, your fans have been awaiting a repeat but to no avail. Why do you think that has happened?
’Jaane Tu’ was a one of its kind films that made people stop and take notice of me. Aditi's character is very close to who I am minus her aggression. I am working towards being part of films that help me maintain that magic and I hope they get that from Chance Pe Dance.
Having worked with big stars in your films right at the start, who would you like to work with now?
I'd love to work with everyone who'd like to work with me :)
How did the rumours of your marriage to Ritesh Deshmukh start?
I have no idea! You should probably help me find out since its something the media came up with. I am single and not marrying anyone as of now. I want to work some more please! When I do decide to settle down, I will announce it out loud!
Are you waiting for Mr Right, then?
Aren't we all? In your case a Miss right ofcourse!
What was the worst and best part of 2009 and what are you looking forward to in 2010?
2009 has been a great year for me. In addition to my films, I now endorse 7 brands and have bought myself a new house and car. I hope 2010 starts with a bang with ‘Chance Pe Dance’ and gets better as the year progresses.
Genelia d’Souza is a happy-go-lucky kind of a girl that we all saw and adored in ‘Jaane tu, ya jaane na’- her first successful Bollywood outing. It was a dream debut in the Hindi film industry that made her and the guy opposite her- Imraan Khan- new shining stars. But five Hindi films later, the southern sensation is still looking for her place under the sun.
Genelia tells Shashank Chouhan of Spicezee.com that she is hoping at yet another breakthrough in her latest with Shahid Kapoor, ‘Chance pe Dance’. Excerpts:

Genelia Dsouza's As A Gully Cricketer!
Though Genelia kept the audience mesmerized, while the two teams took the event to an exciting note and over joyed the audience. The match between the six member from each team dreamers and rich kids turned the crowds nostalgic.
Genelia who seemed to have enjoyed the event, stated “The match has been a great experience & has only helped strengthen my bond with the Big Switch participants. It didn’t matter as to who won or lost the match, the agenda of further building my bond with the contestants of this innovative show has been met with this initiative”.
It was a huge success for the channel and excited Heather Gupta, Channel Head of UTV Bindass, adds “As innovation is one of the key platforms of Bindass, a gully cricket-match is the perfect event for the Big Switch team, not only strengthening the connection between participants but also reaching out to audiences at a national level.” Eventually at the day end it was Genelia, who was on everyone’s mind, the charm of the event.

Genelia's wedding this year
However, relief has come for her fans when the pretty starlet has come out into the open about it. Apparently, Genny has been linked to Bollywood actor Ritiesh Deshmukh since quite a while and the paparazzi have always been on the duo’s trail to expose it.
Meanwhile, Genelia quashed all this as trash and was furious over the sources of such news. She made it clear that marriage is miles away and if something were to happen like that, she would be the first one to inform the media about it. Points taken Genny!!
