Rani Mukherji perform item no for 'Housefull 2'?

Rani Mukherji perform item no for 'Housefull 2'?Riding high on her stellar performance in ‘No One Killed Jessica’, Bollywood bong babe Rani Mukerji is all set to showcase her jhatkas and latkas in a sizzling disco number in ‘Housefull 2’.

Apparently, Rani Mukerji is a trained Odissi dancer, who has stayed away from item songs in Bollywood. Talking to a daily, the actress is tight-lipped about her item number, “As of now, this is hearsay and I`d like to leave it at that. I have really not done an item number in my career, but I`m open to it.

“Doing it totally depends on how the song is being presented and if it excites me. I love dancing and I think such special songs have a lot of energy. It`s fun to see and shoot.

Mukherji & Kapoor refuse to shoot in red-light area?

Apparently one amongst Rani Mukherji or Kareena Kapoor is playing the role of a prostitute in Aamir Khan's film.

Rani Mukherji & Kareena Kapoor refuse to shoot in red-light area?Aamir Khan's new film being directed by Reema Kagti seems to be making news. The more the makers are trying to maintain secrecy around the project, the more attention it is garnering. Earlier there were reports that Aamir Khan, in all probability, plays a ghost in the film. And now the female leads of the film are making news.

Seemingly one amongst the film's two leading ladies – Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor is playing the role of a prostitute in the film. Director Reema Kagti wanted to shoot in actual locations of red light area in Mumbai to get a real feel in the film. But if sources are to be believed, the actress wasn't comfortable in shooting at real locations.

And this despite the fact that both Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor have played the role of a prostitute in their earlier films! Kareena Kapoor won critical acclaim for her role in Chameli while Rani Mukherji has played a prostitute several times in films like Saawariya, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Mangal Pandey . Apparently this also led to delay in the shooting schedule until the same sequences were shot at another area in Lower Parel in Mumbai.

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has tied up with the NGO Child Rights and You (CRY) for Shiksha programme and under this some part of the proceeds generated from the sale of a P&G product such as Tide, Ariel, Vicks, etc. will go for children's education in the country.

So, I feel that initiatives like Shiksha that support the cause of education are incredible, and I feel we should all contribute even if it's a little bit because if we do that India will have 100 per cent literacy rate one day," Rani told reporters here.

"It's my dream too that every child in India is educated because the way India is growing I don't think without education, we can see a very bright future. Rani plays hard to get after last film's success

Rani plays hard to get after last film's successNo one Killed Jessica might have been a hit, but Rani Mukerji is still in no mood to sign films left, right and centre. She has also slimmed down a lot, but has been making it clear to all that she doesn't want to sign several films in one go.

In the past, Rani signed some films which did not fair well at the box office, nor give any push to her career. This is the reason why she has reportedly become very choosy these days.

A source says: "Rani has given very clear instructions to her staff that she would not take roles only for the sake of it. She has been reading scripts far more seriously and is very picky about what her character would be." Rani has just signed the yet untitled film directed by Reema Kagti, which also stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, solely because of her role, which is scripted well.

Rani was keen on working with Aamir after a gap of several years. They last appeared together in the film Mangal Pandey. So, Rani was eager to be seen again with Mr. Perfectionist. Besides this, her staff is tactfully turning down offers that come her way. She doesn't want to offend filmmakers, but at this point, Rani is clear that she will not sign films only for the sake of friendship.

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani Mukherjee

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani MukherjeeImagine Vidya Balan staying up till 3 in the night and singing “Aar koto raat eka thakbo… Chokh mele dekhbo naa tomake…”That’s from Rani’s Believe It Or Not collection about her No One Killed Jessica co-star.

One is a Bengali by chance. The other a Bengali by choice. Between them on Monday evening, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan were more like two Bengalis coming home to Calcutta than two big Bollywood stars coming to the city to promote their film.

The last time Rani and Vidya were seen together in Calcutta was in August, in the front row of designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s debut show in the city at Taj Bengal. On Monday, the venue was the same and both were again wearing Sabyasachi but this time the spotlight was firmly on the two women.

They had flown in from Mumbai earlier in the morning. And the moment they set foot in Calcutta, Vidya had squealed out loud at the airport. A concerned Rani turned around and asked her what had happened. “I am in my city!” Vidya replied. “Pagol meye!” Rani concluded.

A few hours later Rani was in the mood to make most of that mad streak. “I am telling you Vidya was a Bengali in her last birth... she loves to speak Bengali, she loves to eat Bengali food and she loves Bengali men,” Rani announced even as a stunned Vidya didn’t know how to react.

And then came the killer line. “Vidya would love to get married to a Bengali man who has a long surname ending with ‘jee’, like Chatterjee or Mukherjee,” Rani quipped, before adding: “She would love to be a Mrs Mukherjee.”

The impromptu Bengali jamming between the two Bolly beauties didn’t end there. Recovering from this sudden onslaught, Vidya started singing the Autograph chartbuster — “Aamake aamar moto thakte dao... aami nijeke nijer moto guchhiye niyechhi...”

Rani was not done. “See, her Bengali pronunciation sounds like a Bengali.” Vidya was ready with the repartee this time — “Karon aami mon theke Bangali!”

If Vidya’s Bengali was sounding just right — after spending two months in the city shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani — Rani’s Bengali was sounding very Lokhandwala. “Don’t make me speak more Bengali... I am getting exposed,” the Miss Mukerji herself pleaded.

Raj Kumar Gupta, director of No One Killed Jessica, confirmed that even on the sets of the film, which is inspired by the Jessica Lal murder case, it was one big, mad Bengali party. With Sabyasachi designing for both the actresses in the film, “everyone was jabbering in Bengali all the time”.

What’s more, they even shot a few crucial scenes of the film here in Calcutta — Maidan to New Market, Ballygunge to Dum Dum. “Sabrina Lal’s (Jessica’s sister, played by Vidya) journey brings her to Calcutta and it was important that we actually came to Calcutta to shoot that portion,” Raj Kumar revealed.

Cut to Monday morning, and it was Rani who was taking a trip down Calcutta memory lane. The actress had gone straight from the airport to Elgin Road for a bhanr of tea.

“It’s a place where my maa and mashi used to take me from the very beginning for bhanrer cha,” Rani told Metro. “I really enjoy it. There are so many things I would love to do here in Calcutta but I always come with so much work in hand that it never happens.”

But what binds Vidya to Calcutta? “Rani is always curious about my Bengali connection... ‘what is this connection I want to understand’, she asks me,” Vidya said. “Wish I could understand it myself....”

So has she become more Bangali than Rani? “That I don’t know, that I don’t know,” Vidya laughed out loud with a twinkle in her eye. “But all I can say is that Tomate aamate dekha hoyechhilo, jaani naa kobe kothay... That’s what I feel about Calcutta.”

Shahrukh Khan's live performance in Dhaka

All roads led to Army Stadium as the decked out status was everything set to welcome the 'King of Bollywood' Shahrukh Khan on December 10. Endless resolute fans of the 'Bollywood Badshah' held up with bated breath to get a sight of their favourite 'hero'. Most of Shahrukh's Bangladeshi fans are seemingly youngsters. Of them the number of female fans might surpass that of men. They had so far viewed Khan's charming representation on the little screen, and didn't desire to miss the opening to perceive him perform live in Dhaka.

Shahrukh Khan live perform in Dhaka

The show, titled 'King Khan Live in Dhaka' was organised by Antar Showbiz. A team of performers, which included Bollywood, stars Rani Mukerjee, Arjun Rampal and Isha Koppikar joined Khan in the three-hour live performance. Bangladeshi singer Parvez opened the show. Parvez started with a high-pitched melancholic rock song “E Jibon Hariye Jaye”.

Chairman of Antar Showbiz, Swapan Chowdhury with his wife Nasreen Chowdhury, took the stage and delivered speeches. A visual presentation featuring Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar was on next. The performance featured dances routines from films “Qayamat” and “Don” (2006).

Arjun Rampal arrived on stage in style -- on a bike. The actor sported a guitar and performed to the song “Rock On” and “Aap Ka Kya Hoga”. “How is Dhaka? I love you,” Arjun yelled in Bangla. He also said, “Couple of days ago I suffered a back injury, but I had to come to Dhaka. I didn't want to disappoint you all.”

The ravishing Bengali belle Rani Mukerjee danced to a medley of some hit songs from her films, including “Saathia”, “Hum Tum” and “Shava Shava”.

Dazzling the audience with her cordial smile and girl-next-door charm, Rani spoke to the audience in Bangla and said, “You folks have been supporting me since the beginning of my career. I want your love and support more in the days ahead, so that I deliver better performances.”

Silence prevailed as footage of Shahrukh Khan went on the screen. Khan with his entourage of performers appeared on stage at 8:47pm. The mega-star performed a segue of hits -- “Love Mera Hit Hit”, “Dard-e Disco” and “Abhi Na Jao Chhor Kar.”

Audiences were chanting “Shahrukh”, “Shahrukh” as he disappeared from stage, leaving them craving for more of the star. Wearing a white shirt, Khan appeared again on stage after a while and said, “Ami Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-er deshey Bharatbarsho thekey onek onek bhalobasha aar shubhechcha boye enechhi.”

“I've heard of Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jasimuddin. I love Runajee's (Runa Laila) music. That's why I'm in Dhaka,” he added. As per Khan's request, a couple from the audience joined Khan on stage and interacted with him.

Khan also delivered dialogues from his films “Devdas” and “Baazigar” on the show. The highlight of the night was a duet by Rani Mukerji and Shahrukh Khan. The performance included “Tujhey Dekha Tho Ye Jana Sanam”, “Tum Paas Aaye”, “Tawba Tumharey Ye Isharey”, “Koi Mil Gaya” and “Mitwa”.

Later, all the artistes performed to the song “Om Shanti Om.” A rendition by Neeraj Shridhar wrapped up the show. Boishakhi TV aired the event live. Though several press conferences and features published in newspapers claimed that Shahrukh Khan will vote, and inspire his fans to vote, for the Sundarbans (largest mangrove forest in the world) to be included in the Natural Wonders List, he didn't do so. The audience did not seem satisfied with the overall management of such a major event. Some fans also misbehaved, disrupting the experience for the rest of the audience.

No One Killed Jessica (Video)

No One Killed Jessica is a poignant, hard hitting and also an entertaining film. Made on a small budget with two of the best actresses of the country, Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee, the film is centered on the infamous Jessica Lal murder case.

No One Killed Jessica (Video)

Director Rajkumar Gupta who earned recognition with his film Aamir got inspired to make the film on Jessica’s case from a headline in a national newspaper. He believes that the courtroom trial of the case was a very important event in contemporary India, signified by the society that rallied around for justice for Jessica who was shot dead point blank by the son of a rich politician. The film is Rajkumar Gupta’s dramatic interpretation of the entire Jessica Lal case.

Rani plays a passionate reporter Meera in the film, and Vidya is Sabrina, sister of Jessica, who, with her undaunted spirit, continued to fight to seek justice for her dead sister. Rani Mukherjee smoking in No One Killed Jessica promo makes debate

Rani Mukherjee smoking in No One Killed Jessica promo makes debateRemember how Aishwarya got the heat for the poster of her latest film Guzaarish because it showed her smoking? It was thought to be irresponsible as youth of today are easily impressed with stars. Well, the next in line is Rani Mukherjee.

Her upcoming film No One Killed Jessica is garnering publicity not just because of the trailer, that certainly makes you sit up and take notice, but more so because the promos show her smoking. It's strange because this isn't the first time Rani has smoked in a film; she did it before in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag where she played an elite escort.

In this film, Rani plays a headstrong journalist who takes up the cause of the murdered Jessica Lal. As part of her character specification, she had to smoke on a few occasions. NGO's though aren't interested in the creative aspect of the character and letters have been sent to the Health Ministry and censor board asking for the deletion of scenes involving the actress smoking.

Rani's character also shows her using profanity on screen in both English and Hindi in the promos. We wonder if that too would be deleted. The director of No One Killed Jessica maintains that these days using abuses in everyday conversations has become a norm and should be considered harmless. Well, that's yet to be seen.

Vidya Balan, Konkona Sensharma, Kajol, Rani Mukherjii, Prachi Desai- best in Indian Wear

The obsession for fitness has reached alarming proportions today in Bollywood. Both actors and actresses today are supposed to have perfect body.

And tongues star wagging if they put on a little fat on their body. However, even in this age where survival of.

The fittest is taken to be both literally and figuratively, there are actresses who refuse to be part of this unhealthy race of size zero.

We present here five beautiful actresses who do not have and neither want to have a size zero figue.

They know their bodies well and look good in Indian wear rather than revealing western clothes.

One actress who really looks beautiful in ethnic Indian wear is Vidya Balan. Her dressing sense received.

A lot of flake and she decided to go for a make-over.Vidya lost nearly 10 kgs and commented.

That at one point of time she was trying to be like others and this thought of hers backfired. She hired.

A new designer and realized that to show off her curves, she does not need to wearWestern clothes only.

In fact, Indian clothes look very good on her and she has been sticking to salwars and saris in her films as well as in real life. Another actress who has got a very Indian body is Konkona Sensharma. This talented actress looks beautiful in Indian wear and she is seen mostly in them ,whether in films or at events.

However, she also looks good in Indo-Western and in her recent films like ‘Wake up Sid ‘and ‘’Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge “, she was seen flaunting kurtis along with jeans. The look suited her well and she looked comfortable in them too.

Kajol has never been appreciated for her sense of style. This is probably because her acting prowess is so strong that no one bothers to look beyond that. In her earlier days, she was often a fashion disaster and used to wear clothes without giving too much importance to whether it suits her or not.

Of late, however, her sense of fashion has improved considerably and she is seen wearing clothes that give her body a new dimension and also accessories them in the proper way. Style or no style, we love this fiery actress the way she is.

Even though she, in her latest film, appeared in a bikini top, we still think that Rani Mukherjii looks much better in Indian clothes. Since she is not very tall and is heavy at the waist,Indian wear successfully hides her bulges and instead highlights her attractive features.

Rani also received a lot of flak for her weight, but her brand new makeover in ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’was much appreciated. She flaunted her toned body unabashedly, but keeping in mind the fate of the film, we think it is better she gives more importance to her acting skills, rather than her figure.

Another relatively young actress who looks good in Indian wear is Prachi Desai. In fact, when she was doing a television serial, Prachi had to wear Indian clothes only keeping in mind the character she was playing. Her character was extremely popular and her sense of style was appreciated too. In ‘Rock On’, and subsequent films, she was seen wearing Western wear, though not too revealing ones and our suggestion is that she should stick to the Indian and Indo-Western look.

Rani and Vidya are new best friends

Looks like Rani Mukerji is trying real hard to be nice to everyone. Rani was the top heroine of the industry and had a good rapport with the bubbly Preity Zinta and also the beautiful Aishwarya Rai at one point in time. Rani was also in the top invitees list of all Khans.

But then, there is no substitute to youth and her glory faded away. After that, all we heard about her was that she was not attending any parties, events and has stopped communicating with her friends. Now Rani is shooting with Vidya Balan for Pradeep Sarkar's new film.

My source from the set has told me that Rani is back to her original self. She has started interacting with everyone and above all, she is having a real good time with Vidya. Well, did she have any other option? All the best sweetheart.

Rani and Vidya scare away 'Jessica'

Now that's weird. There is not a single established actress in Bollywood who wants to play the role of Jessica in Aamir director Raj Kumar Gupta's next, No One Killed Jessica. But they have a valid reason. The pivotal roles in the movie are divided between Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan and the character Jessica gets killed in the beginning of the movie. So, whoever opts for that role will have very little to show – talent, I mean.

I have list of names of actresses in my mind who are sitting idle at home and should take up this role. But why would I reveal any? I'm not the casting director. And so, Raj Kumar Gupta has decided to cast a fresh face for the role of Jessica. Good, now the old generation of actresses will have some competition!

Rani - No time for interviews

Rani Mukerji has signed No one kill Jessica. And the makers of the film are so excited about her presence that they want her to give.

The makers actually think they have managed a coup of sorts by getting two power-houses of talent-Rani and Vidya Balan to do their film.

Now, Vidya is promoting her latest release and has been travelling from city to city. And Rani is “so busy” that for days on end she has been giving the press a slip.

Now if you’re wondering what Rani is busy with; well that is something no one can answer. We’ll let you know what’s happening in her life, when she chooses to tell.
